2016 Season Update

Here is the text of the mailing that went out Monday 12/28:

First off, we hope you all had a great Christmas and that 2016 finds you and your family/friends in good health and happiness.  But, where’s the ice?  We have three options for week one:  Freemont, Humbird or not at all.  At this time all three are possible.  Best guess is we are 50/50 for any racing this weekend and if we do it will probably be at Humbird on Sunday only with parking on shore.

Week one has been cancelled.  Our first race of the year will be at Tilleda!
Updates on www.cwira.com and on the hotline: 715-212-6340.

Worker points now required in the youth classes!  Remember that if you want your season points to count this year you (or one of your minions) must complete a work day as detailed in the rule book shown after rule #47.  Worker sign-up is available on the message board which can be found via the web page.  The Rule Book (and updates) posted at cwira.com.

250 GP bike class returns this year as does Old Skool Studded Quad and Outlaw Pee-Wee.  Note that “reserved numbers” for both 250 bike classes AND all GP bike classes will be grouped together as a single pool of numbers.

The 2016 Schedule:  Jan 2/3 – Freemont OR Sunday only at Humbird (check for updates!);  Jan 10 - Tilleda;  Jan 17 - Rock Dam;  Jan 24 - Tomah;  Jan 31 - Lake Wissota (Altoona race moved to Chippewa Falls); Feb 6/7 - Weyauwega;  Feb 14 - Dexterville;  Feb 21 - Hatfield;  Feb 28 - Humbird (or back to Fremont if we race there in January).

Jan 31 is Winter Fest & Games Weekend, the Altoona event has been moved to Chippewa Falls because of Lake Altoona being drained.  We are running Sunday and the NWIRC will be there Saturday just like last year.

Jan 24 is the CWIRA Mid-Season Championship at Tomah and that race never fails to put on one of the best shows of the year.  One of the BIG reasons is the extra payout from Specro/Kold Kutter.  Check the web for full details because the cash will be there for the taking.

Feb 6/7 we spend two days at Weyauwega with full classes both days.  Given that we may be missing a points day from week one (or two?) prepare for both days to be changed to full points.  Like last year we do not share the track with the sleds and have the fairgrounds oval all to ourselves.  Feb 14 is the Wisconsin State Ice Championship at Dexterville – and also Throw Back Weekend!  Bring out the old gear and those hot (and not-so-hot) 3-wheelers for the fun.  The late season specials continue with Feb 21 at Hatfield featuring a Kids Day.

I would normally close with “See you at Fremont!”, but for now keep our fingers crossed for good ice soon and stay connected via www.cwira.com, social media (Facebook & Twitter) and the hotline 715-212-6340.
